COVID-19 Update: What We Are Doing to Protect Our Clients
Here at Adams, Luka, & Benton, P.A., the health, safety, and wellbeing of our clients, attorneys, legal staff, and family members continues to remain our top priority at this time. We are following all CDC and local government guidelines as we continue to serve our clients while ensuring the safety of everyone. Our offices will remain open during normal business hours with new safety protocols being implemented. We will continue to work diligently on the behalf of all of our clients to prevent as little delay as possible in getting your case resolved. We are utilizing telephone and video conferencing options, email, and all other electronic means of communication and will continue to be fully accessible as always to our current clients and the community.
At this time, the Supreme Court of Florida has issued an administrative order canceling all non-essential in-person court proceedings. Essential hearing that will continue to be held per the Florida Supreme Court include:
- first appearances following an arrest
- criminal arraignments as necessary
- hearings on motions to set or modify monetary bail for individuals who are in custody
- juvenile dependency shelter hearings
- juvenile delinquency detention hearings
- hearings on petitions for temporary injunctions relating to the safety of an individual
- hearings on petitions for risk protection orders
- hearings on petitions for the appointment of an emergency temporary guardian
- hearings to determine whether an individual should be involuntarily committed under the Baker Act or the Marchman Act
- and hearings on petitions for extraordinary writs as necessary to protect constitutional rights.
Some non-essential court proceedings may still be conducted telephonically when doing so will be effective. Mediations, settlement conferences, plea negotiations, and other proceedings may continue to be held via telephone or video conferencing.
